Not only does this company deliver food and groceries but you can sign up to do the delivery. This means getting a job which has been difficult since a lot of people got laid off from their previous occupation during the pandemic.

The average annual pay of this company’s delivery driver is $36,565 in the United States. This was as of 26th July 2021. To simplify, this means an average of $17.58 per hour.
One Dasher shared that he makes close to $20 an hour because he only drives during the busiest times which is usually dinner. That is when there is surge pricing.

You get to choose your own hours and be your own boss. Drivers get to choose whether or not they want to accept the person’s order which is usually by checking how much they will tip, etc.

You do not need to own a vehicle of your own while other companies like Uber require new cars. You can use any kind of transportation like a bike or even a truck.

You can order from places that are local as well as national chains. There is a wide range to choose from.

Looking at the latest customer reviews on the company’s product website which is around July 2021, the feedback isn’t looking too good.
The latest review is positive as the customer was able to receive their order within the hour. Their only complaint was that the menu is limited which is pretty common when it comes to other delivery services.
However, this positive feedback was accompanied by a lot of negative ones. Customers complained about horrible customer service. Some of the common issues were:
- Receiving the wrong order
- Items missing from the order
- Order was never delivered
- Late deliveries
- Food was cold
Upon contacting Customer Service, they weren’t provided with any compensation. Regular customers who claim to order 20 times within a month complained about the wrong order issue and upon requesting a redelivery or refund, they were met with a “your account does not qualify for anymore compensation”. On July 31st, Dashers went on strike. Many of them have logged off the app to show solidarity against the food delivery service.
Why did they do that? The reason behind it is because the company reduced the driver’s base pay from $3 to $2. Moreover, one user said that the company doesn’t keep up the maintenance on their cars and don’t do anything but lower their pay.
The Dashers took to Reddit and TikTok to organise the strike and urged others to use UberEats instead. $3 as a base pay was insulting enough for them but lowering it to $2 crossed a limit. Like how we describe most people, DoorDash too, is complicated. There are many satisfied customers while some not so much. There are some Dashers who don’t have a great experience with the company yet others recommend it. And with recent events, where is DoorDash heading?
